    Smallwoods: Smallwoods

    Blocks

    Small woods, big potential...

Small woodlands represent one of the largest opportunities for nature recovery, climate resilience, rural enterprise and community wellbeing in the UK - yet more than half of them are unmanaged or neglected.

Without active management, many woods become less diverse, less resilient to pests, diseases and climate change, and unable to deliver their full environmental, social and economic benefits. Traditional skills are lost, habitats decline, and opportunities for sustainable woodland products and local livelihoods disappear.

Our mission is to bring these woodlands back into active, sustainable management.

    Learn with us

Situated in the timeless Ironbridge Gorge, the Green Wood Centre is a rustic venue with a range of indoor and outdoor teaching spaces, meaning that you can soak up the sunshine or shelter from the rain whilst you learn.

We run a wide variety of courses in woodland management, coppicing and heritage crafts. Everything we offer is taught by experienced professionals and woodland practitioners. We also strive to ensure the best quality learning experience by keeping numbers low and unless otherwise specified, our courses are suitable for all levels of experience and ability.
