    Guidance and Training

Guidance and support for woodland owners and managers can be found on each of the Alliance websites as well as the Plantlife and Woodland Trust webpages.

These are most developed for Scotland, which hosts the longest running Alliance. The principles of the ASR guidance are generally applicable in all UK rainforest areas, with variances in local tree composition, the diversity of priority associated species, and local differences in the pressures that affect the rainforest such as climate change and pests and diseases.

For the best outcomes, rainforest management guidance should be read alongside the regional State of the Rainforest reports.

The State of the Rainforest Reports

The Alliance for Scotland’s Rainforest, Alliance for Wales Rainforest and South West Rainforest Alliance have each produced a State of the Rainforest report, that can be accessed via their websites. These reports outline the current state and local management priorities for each of the Alliance regions. A similar report is being developed by the Northwest England Rainforest Alliance.

A 2025 Progress Report is also available for the Alliance for Scotland’s Rainforest.

    What is happening?
