The Centre for Forest Protection is a joint venture led by Forest Research and Royal Botanic Gardens Kew, that combines the strengths and expertise of each organisation

The Centre is working to protect the future of our forests, woodlands and trees from environmental and socio-economical threats, through the provision of innovative science, interdisciplinary research, education and training.

The Centre for Forest Protection is developing an education and training programme

To help develop forest scientists of the future and to provide continuous professional development (CPD) for those in professional and technical roles within the sector. The CPD is available via e-learning modules accessed through this page. The goal is to increase skills and knowledge within the forestry sector through forward-looking training. The training is based on the values and aims of the CFP and its research interests.

Module introduction

The theme of the training is Resilience fundamentals, tree health and non-native pests and pathogens. The first module ‘Meet the threats’ provides an overview of the risks and challenges that non-native pests and pathogens present to trees.

This module will be useful for anyone with an interest in tree health, who requires a wider picture of how science, legislation and management can increase woodland resilience. The module contains links to useful resources with more detail and context.
